Networking Session with Alumni from Leading Universities

YEP Society was joined by Caterina Vernieri and Raymond Wu on a Zoom meeting on November 13th, 2023. The event was co-organized by Tammy Zhou, and Annika Chan, the two co-directors of YEP Society. Tammy Zhou did the opening and closing remarks, while Annika Chan moderated the event. This virtual event aimed to share their insights on their fields and how they ended up where they are today.

We started with Caterina and her experiences which led to her job at Stanford. She talked to the YEP students about her professorship, the ATLAS project, and her research on the Higgs Boson.

Caterina here shows us more about her and her start in Italy.

Following Caterina, Raymond told us about his time at MIT, as well as his time as a Saber Fencer there. He shared his journey founding MIT Tech X and his current adventures creating WYND, a company that creates products for better air.

Raymond showed us early pictures of his fencing practice!

The event finished off with a Q&A from our students to Caterina and Raymond, ranging from how to create a team to start a successful business to study tips for STEM students.

Overall, this event was an evening filled with curiosity and stories. On behalf of YEP Society and our students, thank you Caterina and Raymond for carving time from your busy schedules to speak at this virtual event. We hope you see you again!
