Insights into the automobile industry
Porsche, the German brand founded in 1931, is a poster posted by many children in their bedroom or a model placed on their desks. Today, YEP takes high school students to the Porsche Center Richmond to directly talk to this nearly 100-year-old brand and learn about its history, culture, challenges and future.
The event was divided into three parts. First, the students learned about the different models currently available by Porsche. The staff of Porsche Center Richmond also showed the students how to use VR technology to help customers choose the car of their choice. On the second floor of the exhibition hall, Porsche 911 models of different eras are displayed. As Porsche's iconic model, the 911 has always been the favorite of many car fans. Students have the opportunity to witness the styling and craftsmanship of 911s from different periods, which further aroused their interest in the brand.
In the next session, the students came to the Porsche Center Richmond workshop. Here, students see many important parts of the Porsche electric car model Tycan, such as High Voltage Heater, High Voltage Charger, Heat Pump and Battery. In addition, mechanical engineers from Porsche Center Richmond also used a 911 GT3 RS to explain a lot of knowledge about road racing to the students. Students even had the opportunity to enter the cockpit and simulate the powerful power of this car. The surging roar made all the teenagers excited.
Finally, Porsche Center Richmond arranged a very educational seminar to explain the current trends of the global automotive industry. Many students are interested in electric vehicles, so the staff also expanded on this topic and discussed the opportunities and challenges faced by automobile companies in an era when electric cars are popular.
As an indispensable means of transportation in life, many people only use cars throughout their lives, but do not have much understanding of the industry. We hope that through this event, students will gain more knowledge and understanding of the automotive sector.
